Aside from the use of VWs as a scientific collaboration platform, we are currently pursuing two research directions:

Many of the founding members of MICA work in N-body simulators of astrophysical systems. One research project that has spawned out of MICA is the production of a wiki that will initially serve as a sort of introduction to N-body simulations, with the goal of becoming a good complete reference that will get people up to speed to doing research in this area. Additionally, we plan to document ongoing research projects on this wiki.

We are also exploring the use of VWs for immersive, collaborative data visualization and visual exploration. Some examples are shown here

We also have a computational science discussion group, interested in the general issues of computational science. This group meets every other Wednesday at 9 am SLT in the MICA Small Auditorium on StellaNova, unless announced otherwise.
