Scientific Frauds? A tour of some types of “true” or presumed scientific hoaxes

A talk by Prof. Giuseppe Longo (Department of Physical Sciences, University Federico II, Italy)

Science is immensely popular and its popularity relies upon its effectiveness in describing natural phenomena world and in predicting their evolution. This however does not suffice to ensure that all scientific discoveries are true. During the talk, we shall discuss a few examples of scientific frauds and shall try to understand why they happened.
