The Christmas Star: What Does The Astronomy Say About It?

From Mica

A talk by Giuseppe Longo, Professor of Astrophysics in the Department of Physical Sciences at the University of Napoli - Federico II.

A worldwide tradition claims that the birth of Jesus Christ was announced by the apparition of a comet which guided the three wise men in your travel across the Middle East. The gospels never mention a comet and only in one of them we find a hint about a prodigious celestial event. The lecture will try to reconstruct the real significance of the event starting from the Gospels and from the historical records.

There's a Wikipedia article about The Christmas Star.
